About Me

My name is Lauren Harrington and I am a Junior at the University of Florida where I am majoring in Nursing and minoring in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences. After graduating and becoming an RN, I plan to go back to school to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and work with very sick infants.

One of things I am the most passionate about is working with children. Throughout my time at the University of Florida I have volunteered in both the NICU and Mother/Baby Unit at Shands Hospital as well as worked with toddlers at Baby Gator. For the past two summers I have also been a camp counselor at the YMCA and I was the Delegate for my sorority for Dance Marathon this past year.

I decided to study abroad with the College of Nursing because I wanted to experience how the healthcare system worked in a foreign country, as well as to participate in hands-on service learning. My study abroad trip along with my clinical experiences and involvement as a UFSNA board member have helped me gain numerous skills and shaped me into becoming a better nurse.
